Many people consider modern buildings made with these natural materials to be the crazy ideas of ecological fanatics. In some SE Asian countries, though, wood and especially bamboo are beginning to be rediscovered. It seems obvious when one considers the excellent elasticity, the lightness and hardness of the yellow and green stalks. There is hardly a comparable natural material which lends itself so well to use in modern and demanding construction.
